Petty Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine founder, Dr. Damon Petty, specializes in Shoulder, Elbow and Knee reconstruction in athletes. He was trained by Dr. James R. Andrews and Dr. William Clancy in Sports Medicine and in Orthopedics at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He has published articles on elbow and shoulder problems in throwers and has given numerous national presentations on the shoulder, elbow and knee, as well as cartilage repair at meetings of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and the International Cartilage Repair Society. He was recently quoted in the New York Times regarding elbow reconstruction in pitchers and was one of the first surgeons in the country to perform arthroscopic double-row repair of rotator cuff tears. Dr. Petty has operated upon professional athletes from the sports of baseball, soccer, football, basketball and golf, most notably players from the Yankees, Pirates, and Devil Rays organizations. Petty Orthopedics is affiliated with Baptist Hospital and University Medical Center and has two offices in the Nashville, Tennessee area.
